The Minister of Health and Social Protection of the population of Tajikistan Nasim Olimzoda in an interview explained the coronavirus reality in Tajikistan and measures to prevent it.
In particular, Olimzoda told Pressa.tj that no symptoms of coronavirus have been registered in Tajikistan to dat. He called unfounded the news about a man who allegedly died of the coronavirus in the Jabbor Rasulov district.
“This news has no basis. In fact, this person was hospitalized 10-12 days ago with a diagnosis of pneumonia. On March 30, this patient was tested for coronavirus, but fortunately it was not confirmed. It should be said that every year in Tajikistan 3000-3500 people die from pneumonia”, Olimzoda noted.
Tajikistan is the next country in Central Asia after Turkmenistan where the coronavirus has not yet been confirmed. To the question “What factors caused the absence of coronavirus in Tajikistan?” Olimzoda answered as following: “All citizens who entered the country, regardless of body temperature, with or without symptoms, we completely quarantined. According to WHO recommendations, quarantine is provided for 14 days. In general, 20-25 percent of those infected with the coronavirus have no symptoms. This is called asymptomatic. They can already infect others as infected. Today we have a high level international laboratory. We have trained 8 virologists of the country to detect coronavirus in Moscow. We tested 22 people in our own laboratories. For comparison, we decided to send a sample of them to London. Fortunately, the absence of coronavirus in these persons has also been confirmed in London.”
It should be also noted that yesterday evening, the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan Nasim Olimzoda spoke on Tojikiston TV about the real situation of the coronavirus in Tajikistan.
