The Shifobakhsh National Medical Center hosted the final meeting of the Advisory Council of the State Agency for Social Protection of the Population.
Representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Finance, the State Bank “Amonatbank”, the State Service for Supervision of Health and Social Protection; heads of structural divisions of the central apparatus of the Agency, directors of social security institutions, heads of departments of social protection of the population of Sughd and Khatlon regions, Dushanbe and other responsible persons of the sphere attended the meeting.
The meeting focused on the results of the activities of the State Agency for Social Protection of the Population of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan for the first half of 2019 and the tasks for the second half of 2019.
One of the most important areas of social protection of the population is free social services, which are provided to citizens in difficult situations, the most vulnerable and in need of social support and guidance.
It was reported that currently 41 departments of social services operate in local government offices of the country. For 6 months, 783 their workers provided social, material, psychological, legal, advisory, representation and mentoring assistance to 4,291 elderly and disabled people and 795 disabled children, in total 5,086 people, which is 107 people more than the same period last year.
In order to provide social services more and more to single elderly people, disabled, children with disabilities, people with disabilities and people in difficult situations, there are 6 regional social service centers in cities and districts of the country that for 6 months have provided services to 78 elderly people and disabled and 69 children with disabilities.
Currently, 83 people are temporarily living in regional centers. Some of these centers have home-based social services units that provide social services directly to 735 people in need in their homes. It should be noted that regional centers provide hot meals from 1 to 3 times a day to 290 users of services that need food.
In order to improve the level and quality, as well as to reduce the cost of social services, according to the contract with the State Agency for Social Protection of the Population, there are 40 social service centers, of which 25 for children with disabilities. These centers are created by public organizations.
It should be noted that for 6 months up to 60 adolescents with disabilities were trained in sewing and computer skills.
Under the Agency also operate 10 social service centers for children with disabilities and people in difficult situations. 154 workers provided services to 357 children with disabilities and 149 people in difficult situations.
The study and analysis of the centers have shown that their use is effective and that most children are making intellectual, physical and mental progress. It should be noted that some of these centers have established mobile units to provide services to children living in remote villages.
Also, on other issues discussed at the meeting, the responsible persons were given specific instructions and the tasks of the sphere were defined by the end of 2019.
In general, the activity of the State Agency for Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan for the reporting period was assessed as satisfactory at the meeting.
We will recall that an International Forum on Rehabilitation and Recovery of Disabled will be held on October 18 this year in Kokhi Navruz palace in Dushanbe.
