On February 26, the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan Nasim Olimzoda and Ambassador of Turkey in Tajikistan Ali Rifat Koksal commissioned a modern Diabetes Center in Dushanbe.
Olimzoda called the commissioning of such a modern diabetes center the effectiveness of mutually beneficial cooperation between Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
The center was built by TIKA in collaboration with the Hamadoni charitable public Foundation to raise awareness of people with diabetes.
The center has a modern gym, a canteen and a classroom for patients coming from all regions of the country.
According to the project, it is planned to conduct information trainings on diabetes by industry experts in order to improve the standard of living of patients with diabetes.
It should be noted that the number of patients with diabetes in the country in 2018 was 44,018 and in 2019 – 46 258, of which 20,421 are men and 25,837 are women.
Currently, there are 7877 cases of insulin-dependent patients with diabetes and 876 children under the age of 18.
To date, 77,410 bottles of insulin are stored in the State Institution “Republican Clinical Endocrinology Center” of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan.
