March 24 is annually celebrated as World TB Day worldwide. In this regard, many informational and educational events are held around the world to prevent the disease.

Along with world countries, Tajikistan is also actively involved in the fight against tuberculosis (TB), and every year holds a lot of events devoted to this date.

Over the past few years, on World TB Day, one building in world major cities will be illuminated in red light as a symbol of solidarity with TB victims.

In this regard, yesterday evening, March 24, the building of Navruzgoh in Dushanbe was also illuminated in a red light, and thus the Tajikistanis expressed their solidarity with TB victims.

It should be noted that this initiative was launched for the first time in the capital of Tajikistan – Dushanbe at the initiative of the TB Stop in Tajikistan, the Tajik Red Crescent Society in collaboration with the Republican Center for TB Protection and the Office of Dushanbe Chairman.

Also, TB Stop in Tajikistan and the Tajik Red Crescent Society in collaboration with the Republican Center for TB Protection and the Office of Dushanbe Chairman provided citizens with information about TB in the streets, markets and crowded places.

Additionally, in honor of World TB Day, the international medical organization Doctors Sans Frontiers held a festive event in the City Children’s Tuberculosis Hospital and the National Center for Tuberculosis, Pulmonary and Thoracic Surgery, which reports to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Tajikistan, for children who are bravely undergoing treatment for tuberculosis.

The mental health team of Doctors Sans Frontiers and hospital staff held art competitions and other recreational activities among children. Thus, the winners were awarded with a set of pencils for painting, including coloring books and a package of paints.

It was noted that if the patients of this disease fully follow the treatment, they will recover and return to their families.

It should be noted that the detection, diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis in children still remains a clinical problem all over the world.
