In order to combat COVID-19, today, the Government of Qatar presented the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan with polymerase chain reaction equipment in the amount of $250,000 as humanitarian aid.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Jamoliddin Abdullozoda, Qatari Ambassador to Tajikistan Ibrahim Muhammad Al-Abdullah and media representatives.
On behalf of the Tajik Government, Abdullozoda expressed gratitude to the Qatari Government for assistance in the fight against COVID-19.
“It should be noted that the history of relations between Tajikistan and Qatar dates back to the official visit of the President Emomali Rahmon to Qatar in 2000 and to date, normative and legal documents have been signed, which have laid a solid foundation for strengthening mutually beneficial relations between the two countries,” added Abdullozoda.
Ambassador said that the assistance will be provided to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population per Emir of Qatar’s instructions to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.
The parties expressed interest in further expanding cooperation in the field of health.
