Today, December 9, per Committee for Women and Family Affairs initiative, a round table on “Strengthening cooperation for joint action against violence” was held at the National Library of Tajikistan, which was attended by representatives of a number of ministries, agencies and structures.
Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Zulfiya Abdusamatzoda made a presentation on “Prevention of domestic violence in the health and social protection system”.
In her speech, she noted that the issues of combating domestic violence, detection and elimination of this negative social phenomenon, as well as the regulation of public relations in this area, in particular the protection of the rights and interests of women and children, strengthening family foundations in implementing state’s social policy is one of the most important issues, and the subjects of prevention of domestic violence, including the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, have done certain work in this direction.
“Recent years experience has shown that the prevention of domestic violence should be a task not only of state and public institutions, but also of society. This issue will be resolved in close cooperation with civil society. In this regard, the relevant ministries and agencies need to work out a mechanism for rehabilitation of victims of domestic violence and collectively put an end to this undesirable phenomenon,” said Abdusamatzoda.
