Today, the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Jamoliddin Abdullozoda met with Japanese Ambassador Takayuki Miyashita and the Head of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Tajikistan Muneo Takasaka.
It was noted that the Government of Japan was one of the first countries to provide humanitarian assistance to Tajikistan during the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, the assistance of this country in the framework of the “Economic and Social Development Program” for a total amount of 600 million Japanese yen is considered very important and timely.
It was noted that the medical equipment purchased under this program and provided to the country’s health facilities has allowed specialists to provide timely and quality services to the population of Tajikistan.
It was also noted that the Ministry of Health has established mutually beneficial cooperation with JICA in Tajikistan.
Currently, the Ministry is implementing two large grant projects and one technical assistance project in cooperation with JICA.
It was also noted that the JICA office in Tajikistan during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has installed 6 oxygen supply stations in health facilities of Dushanbe and Khatlon region, and additionally increased the number of 2 more stations.
The parties expressed interest in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
Abdullozoda, Miyashita and Takasaka then visited the State Clinical Hospital for Pediatric Infectious Diseases, equipped with modern medical equipment provided by the Government of Japan through Socio-Economic Development Program and an oxygen production system installed by JICA in Tajikistan.
Also on the same day in Dushanbe’s Karim Ahmedov city medical center №1 JICA commissioned one of 6 oxygen production systems and medical equipment, which was put into operation in the framework of combating the pandemic COVID-19. The commission ceremony was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Health Ghafur Muhsinzoda, Miyashita, Takasaka, management and staff of the institution.
Initially, the guests got acquainted with the oxygen production system installed at the facility, as well as with the condition of the rescue department of the center, which also has an oxygen line in its rooms.
Then Muhsinzoda on behalf of the leadership of the Ministry expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan for the continued support of the country’s health sector, and praised the commissioning of the oxygen production system at the institution as a result of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Then, Muhsinzoda, Miyashita, Takasaka also visited the Tajik Medical Center “Shifobakhsh” and got acquainted with the substations for oxygen production.
