A working group of representatives of the Life and Livelihood Fund (LLF) and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) arrived in Tajikistan on a working visit from September 4 through September 10.
The purpose of the visit is to establish mutually beneficial cooperation, visit and familiarize with the implementation of the Project “Improving Medical Care for Mothers and Children in Four Districts of Khatlon region”.
The main goal of the project is to equip and develop the infrastructure of healthcare institutions, extend the duration of training, and generally increase the availability of medical services at the level of health care and hospitals in four districts of the Khatlon region.
On September 5 this year, the guests met with the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population JamoliddinAbdullozoda, where analyzed and discussed bilateral cooperation.
The working group also held meetings with the leadership of a number of institutions to discuss bilateral cooperation.
On September 6, representatives of the LLF and IDB visitedDangaraand Norak in order to get acquainted with the implementation of the Project “Improving Medical Care for Mothers and Children in Four Districts of Khatlon Region”.
Also on September 7, a press conference was held at the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan on the implementation of the Project and the results of the working visit of the LLF and the IDB. It was attended by Minister of Finance FaiziddinKahhorzoda, First Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population GafurMuhsinzoda, Regional Head of the IDB Group for Central Asia Ibrahim Shukri, Deputy Director of the Bill and Melinda Gates Fund for the Middle East and East Asia James Carty, Senior Economist Abu Dhabi Development Fund Ahmed Khamis Al Kalbani and media representatives.
Kahhorzoda noted the mutually beneficial cooperation between the government of Tajikistan and the IDB, which makes a significant contribution to the implementation of a number of projects.
He noted that the effective implementation of the Project is a continuation of mutually beneficial cooperation between the Government of Tajikistan and the IDB, and the goal and objective of the project is to improve the level and quality of medical services for mothers and children.
The participants were provided with information on the implementation of this project.
In continuation of the press conference, journalists asked questions related to the implementation of the project and received specific answers from officials.
It should be noted that the implementation of this project began in 2020, and its completion is scheduled for 2024.
The total cost of this project is $26.87 million, of which $23 million is a grant from the IDB/LLF Fund, $1.01 million is funds from UN agencies (UNICEF, WHO and UNFPA) and $2.86 million is a contribution from Tajikistan.
