In 2023, the National Reference Laboratory conducted 10,137 free laboratory tests on 2,066 people from vulnerable groups of society. It was reported by Bahodur Kholnazar, director of the laboratory.
It was reported that in 2023, the department of external assessment of the quality of services (research) of health laboratories of the National Reference Laboratory conducted an assessment of the activity of laboratories and an external assessment of the quality of services in 9 health institutions that have laboratory services.
According to Kholnazar, the important event and achievement of the laboratory in 2023 is the identification of the National Reference Laboratory by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a potential National Influenza Center in the country.
It should be noted that on October 6, 2021, the Ministry identified the National Reference Laboratory as a potential National Influenza Center in the country.
In March 2023, the Ministry sent a request to the WHO to officially recognize the National Reference Laboratory as the National Influenza Center in Tajikistan.
According to the assessment of the WHO representative body, which was conducted in June 2023, the National Reference Laboratory received 96 points out of 100 and was recognized by organization as a highly qualified part of the global system for monitoring and responding to influenza for the protection of the population.
Thus, on September 13, 2023, the WHO Regional Director for Europe Dr Hans Henri P. Kluge handed a WHO official letter to the Minister Jamoliddin Abdullozoda about the recognition of the National Reference Laboratory as the National Influenza Center.
