Days of Kazakhstan’s Medicine in Tajikistan

The Days of Kazakhstan’s medicine were held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dushanbe on December 19-20, 2019.

The event was attended by First  Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan Saida Umarzoda, Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan Shodikhon Jamshed, Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Abishev, Rector of the Tajik State Medical University named after Abuali Ibn Sino Mahmadshoh Gulzoda, heads of national research centers of both countries, research institutes, clinics, public and private universities, pharmaceutical manufacturers and media representatives.

Before the event, the achievements of Kazakhstan’s medicine in various fields of healthcare were demonstrated.

Said Umarzoda and Shodihon Jamshed, as well as other representatives of the country’s health ministry visited the exhibition and got acquainted with the achievements of medicine in Kazakhstan.

Saida Umarzoda  spoke about the high level of cooperation, as well as the importance of taking measures to strengthen and expand relations between the two countries.

It was noted that Kazakhstan is showing significant results in protecting public health and providing high-quality specialized medical services by strengthening primary health care, developing innovative technologies and digitalizing healthcare.

While speaking, Olzhas Abishev recalled the cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including in the field of healthcare. He assessed the holding of the Days of Kazakhstan’s medicine in Tajikistan as a steady step towards expanding cooperation in this area.

During the event, representatives of the ministries of health of the two countries also made speeches.

It should be noted that since 2003 there has been fruitful cooperation between medical institutions of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, including between the Republican Scientific Center for Cardiovascular Surgery of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population and the Scientific Center for Surgery named after A.N. Syzganov, Scientific Research Institute of Cardiology and Internal Medicine, as well as the Center for Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery.

The demonstration of the achievements of the health sector of Kazakhstan, the conducting master classes, consultations and surgical operations are also pkanned within this event.

Close cooperation has contributed to the training of personnel in the field of cardiac surgery and the introduction of complex heart defects into our practice. Constant communication and consultations with Kazakh specialists made it possible to improve the results of operations for various heart pathologies, both in children and in adults.

It should be noted that the ECO method program is very developed in Kazakhstan. Currently, 27 Kazakh students are studying at the Abuali Ibn Sino Tajik State Medical University. The University has established mutually beneficial cooperation with eight higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan, including with the Karaganda Medical University, Astana State University, Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University and many others.

Over the past 5 years, more than 140 university students have taken part in the program of academic mobility at the Karaganda Medical University, Astana State University and Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University.

Another significant event of cooperation between the two countries in the field of healthcare was the signing of a memorandum on the development of digitalization of healthcare between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan.

The Global partnership for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires long-term investments in critical sectors, one of which is information and communication technology (SDG 17). The development of digital technologies in health care is one of the four instruments for the implementation of the Astana Declaration, adopted in 2018.

The development of digitalization of health care will make it possible to improve the quality of service and patient safety, increase efficiency and improve coordination of health care, thereby providing patients with the opportunity to determine their needs and participate in the planning and provision of medical services.

During the event, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between some of sub-departments of the ministries of the two countries.
