The first meeting of the Intersectoral Technical Working Group on Coordination and Management of Laboratories in Tajikistan was held at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population.
It was attended by Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Abdukholik Amirzoda, Head of the WHO Country Office for Tajikistan Viktor Olshavsky, representatives of relevant structures and specialists.
The meeting was held with technical support from the WHO as part of the Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response Program and the One Health Initiative.
The meeting focused on issues related to laboratory services in the health sector and the country’s Food Security Committee, including existing achievements and problems, planned activities, priority areas of the strategic plan for the development of laboratory services and further steps for the development of the health sector.
In this context, it should be noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted health services around the world, highlighting how the lack of reliable laboratory systems can pose barriers to the detection, diagnosis and control of infectious diseases.
