Yesterday evening, within the framework of the global mechanism of equitable access to vaccines of the World Health Organization (COVAX), the first part of AstraZeneca vaccine in the amount of 192,000 doses was transported by Somon Air special flight from Delhi to Dushanbe. It should be noted that the rest of the vaccines will be gradually delivered to Tajikistan in the near future.
The official delivery ceremony of vaccines to Tajikistan was held at the Dushanbe International Airport, which was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister Matlubakhon Sattoriyon, the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Jamoliddin Abdullozoda, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Muzaffar Huseinzoda, the Ambassador of India Viraj Singh, WHO Representative Victor Olsavsky, the head of EU Delegation Marilyn Josephson, UNICEF Representative Osama Maccabi and other officials.
It should be noted that in the first phase, in accordance with the National Plan, vaccines will cover vulnerable groups, based on voluntary principles, including health workers, strategic sectors of the economy, citizens over 60 years, people with chronic non-communicable diseases and education and science workers.
Also, the government of Tajikistan in collaboration with development partners and relevant ministries and agencies expanded measures to increase the population’s immunization against COVID-19.
