On February 9, the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Jamoliddin Abdullozoda met with the Representative/Country Director of the World Food Program in Tajikistan Adham Musallam.
It was mentioned that food security and healthy nutrition is considered the third strategic task of the Government of Tajikistan. Taking into account the importance of this issue, the food security and healthy nutrition is listed as a priority area of the National Development Strategy of Tajikistan until 2030. In the process of solving these issues, the Government has adopted a number of normative legal documents, which are currently being implemented.
It was noted that the ministry in collaboration with the World Food Program (WFP) has been implementing the program “Prevention and treatment of acute malnutrition” in accordance with national guidelines since 2017.
Another direction of cooperation between the Government of Tajikistan and the World Food Program is the organization of school meals, which has been identified as one of the priorities of the state policy of Tajikistan, and its legal basis is gradually being strengthened.
The parties also exchanged views on the expansion of cooperation.
