On May 21, the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Shodikhon Jamshed met with a delegation from Yale University of the United States of America.
Shodikhon Jamshed assessed this meeting as a favorable opportunity to develop cooperation between the Ministry and the university.
The meeting focused on issues of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of patients with human immunodeficiency virus and drug addiction.
In this context, it was noted that one of the most effective and cost-effective strategies to reduce HIV infection and improve public health today is treatment with opioid agonists such as methadone.
Tajikistan, as an integral part of the international community, is trying to prevent an increase in the number of HIV patients and drug addicts in the country.
There was also an exchange of views between experts in the relevant field and employees of Yale University on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of HIV diseases and drug addiction.
