During the event, it was informed that Tajikistan has recently become a part of the Executive Committee of the European Commission, which will cause an increase in the status and role of the country’s government in the international arena.

It was noted that smoking is one of the main causes of serious diseases, including cancer. When tobacco smoke enters the human body, it will lead to the destruction of the nervous systems that control the internal organs of the body.

According to industry experts, when using tobacco, it primarily penetrates into the respiratory organs and adversely affects them. It weakens the harmful substances of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract and leads to a number of diseases. Smoking causes inflammatory diseases of the lungs, lung cancer, inflammation of the nasal mucosa and other respiratory diseases.

Nicotine has the ability to reduce arteries, which over time can lead to the destruction of certain veins. Likewise it has a negative effect on the circulatory organs and causes coronary heart disease and increased pressure in the arteries.

In continuation, the head of the WHO Representative Office in Tajikistan Martha Everard, the Director of the Republican Center for Healthy Lifestyle Parvina Mukhtorova, the Chief Specialist of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan Hokimakhon Ahmedova made reports and expressed their views on various aspects of the press conference topic.

The WHO named tobacco as one of the main causes of the disease and mortality. According to this organization, more than 8 million people in the world die due to smoking-related diseases annually.

Industry experts have found that one tobacco contains more than 4 thousand chemicals, of which 250 species are harmful and 50 other types that cause cancer.

Following the event, an exchange of views took place between journalists and industry officials.
