The Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Persons was opened on June 15 at the Shifobakhsh National Medical Center in Dushanbe. The opening ceremony was attended by the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s wife Mrs. Emine Erdoğan, Minister of Health and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan Nasim Olimzoda, Minister of Labour, Migration and Employment of the Republic of Tajikistan Sumangul Tagoyzoda and other officials.
It should be noted that the centre was built by the Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TIKA).
Nasim Olimzoda in his speech expressed gratitude to the Turkish President and TIKA leadership for building such a modern centre in Tajikistan.
“We hope that hundreds of people in Tajikistan will rehabilitate their health in this center. Commissioning of this center is the fact of a good example of cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkey,” said Olim Salimzoda.
Mrs. Emine Erdoğan in her speech recalled the history of the relations of friendship between the two peoples and said that our friendly relations have historical roots.
“Tajikistan has a cultural base associated with the name of Mawlana Jalaluddin Balkhi. The common historical and cultural value of the peoples of the two countries will contribute to the further development of Tajik-Turkish relations,” noted Mrs. Emine Erdoğan.
She hoped that the center’s commissioning will contribute to the treatment of disabled people.
It is planned to provide postoperative treatment and rehabilitation not only for patients operated on in the orthopedic department of the Shifobakhsh Center, but also for disabled people from across the country.
The project of construction of the Rehabilitation Center of Tajikistan was implemented in two stages. At the first stage, its one-storey building was built on an area of 300 square meters in a certain territory. At the second stage of the project, the center was equipped with modern medical equipment for the rehabilitation of disabled people.
It is worth to note that the construction of the Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled started since 2018 after the signing of the Protocol between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan and the TIKA and it is currently being commissioned.
The center will employ specialists – physiotherapists and occupational therapists who have been trained abroad in the field of rehabilitation of disabled people.
We will recall that the TIKA’s Mission has been operating in Tajikistan since 1995 and to date, it has implemented more than 300 projects in the field of education, health, agriculture, strengthening of central and local agencies, humanitarian assistance, etc.
