On October 25, in Khujand, a meeting was held to summarize the activities of the Sughd Regional Health Department and its subordinate institutions for the first nine months of the year.
The event was attended by the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan Jamoliddin Abdullozoda, Deputy Chairmanr of Sughd Region Zaynura Azimi, and other health officials and specialists.
It was noted that the development of the healthcare and social protection sector in Sughd Region continues under the support and guidance of the President Emomali Rahmon, with notable progress achieved in improving medical services. During the reporting period, 980 units of medical equipment were procured and distributed to regional healthcare facilities.
For 2025, the construction and renovation of 101 healthcare facilities are planned, including 86 renovation projects and 15 new constructions. Several facilities, such as health centers in Bobojon Ghafurov, Konibodom, and Ayni districts, have already been completed, while construction works continue in Khujand, Mastchoh, and Devashtich.
Currently, the region operates 944 public healthcare institutions and 293 private medical entities, with a total of 15,756 hospital beds.
The meeting reviewed key priorities, including strengthening staffing, reducing maternal and child mortality, preventing infectious and noncommunicable diseases, modernizing facilities, and ensuring preparedness for the winter season.
In conclusion, Minister Abdullozoda gave specific instructions to enhance the quality and efficiency of medical services and to address existing challenges in the regional healthcare system.
