The state institution “National Reference Laboratory” of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population is recognized by the World Health Organization as the National Influenza Center.
An official letter from WHO about this was presented to the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Jamoliddin Abdullozoda by the Regional Director of the World Health Organization for Europe Hans Kluger.
On October 6, 2021, the Ministry appointed the National Reference Laboratory as a potential National Influenza Center.
Using the overall implementation plan for the II Partnership Contribution to Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Framework 2018–2023, WHO and other international partners supported the development of the laboratory’s technical capacity.
In March 2023, the Ministry requested WHO to initiate the process of formal recognition of the National Reference Laboratory as the National Influenza Center in Tajikistan.
