Three-Month Activity Ministry Summed Up

 An online meeting, chaired by the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan Nasim Olimzoda on the results of the ministry’s three-month activity in 2020, was held on April 24, which was attended deputies minister Saida Umarzoda, Mirhamuddin Kamolzoda, and Shodikhon Jamshed.

The meeting was also attended via online by the rector of the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University Mahmadshoh Gulzoda, heads of sectoral services, heads of health departments of GBAO, Khatlon and Sughd, heads of national centers and regional, city and district health facilities.

Saida Umarzoda reported about the activities of the ministry in the first three months of this year.

According to the Republican Center for Statistics and Medical Information, as of January 1, the total number of doctors and paramedics in the country is 19,080 and 53,982, respectively. The indicators of provision of doctors and nurses per 10,000 population in cities and districts were 20.9 and 59.1, respectively.

According to the schedule of work units in private medical institutions work 1,596 doctors, 1,500 nurses and 860 paramedics, a total of 3,956 employees.

To date, 137 foreign citizens have undergone an organ transplant operation in the country, including 45 from Kyrgyzstan, 33 from Israel, 29 from Azerbaijan and the rest from other republics.

Also, the meeting focused on the prevention of coronavirus infection and the spread of pneumonia.

Taking into account the recent outbreaks and deaths of citizens from pneumonia, the heads of health facilities were instructed that if pneumonia and respiratory diseases are detected, to immediately cover them by diagnosis and treatment.

It should be noted that a permanent commission has been established on January 23 at the ministry in order to prevent coronavirus spread into the country, as well as an action plan, which was sent to all medical and preventive institutions of cities and districts, was developed and approved. Since first days, this commission with urgent and effective decisions on measures to prevent coronavirus spread has carried out round-the-clock monitoring of diagnosis and treatment of possible infections of this disease.

Also, in order to establish and strengthen the epidemiological control of COVID-19 infection in Tajikistan per ministry’s order the Guideline “On the activities of emergency mobile groups to prevent the entry and spread of coronavirus infection in Tajikistan” and the list of mobile groups were approved.

It was noted that despite the fact that no coronavirus infection has been registered in Tajikistan so far, but in case of possible outbreak of this infection, including hospitalization and treatment of infected people, medical facilities should be fully prepared.

The meeting also focused on the preparation of health facilities for possible outbreaks of coronavirus, including hospitalization and treatment of infected people, in case of infection, providing resuscitation units with the necessary equipment, relation with infected people, provision of health facilities with materials and equipment for prevention of coronavirus, providing doctors with self-protective clothing and other related issues.

During the meeting, the heads of medical facilities reported on the progress of preparatory work to prevent the transmission of coronavirus, including the storage of medical supplies, the creation of favorable conditions and opportunities for citizens in quarantine and related issues.

Following the meeting, the officials were given specific instructions to further strengthen the preparatory work and take strict measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus into the country, to eliminate the existing shortcomings and problems of the field.
