Today, January 30, a briefing on identifying and preventing coronavirus was held at the Dushanbe International Airport. The briefing was initiated by the Press Centers of the Tajik Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population and Civil Aviation.

Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Mirhamuddin Kamolzoda and media representatives attended the briefing, during which journalists got acquainted with the preparation of the Dushanbe International Airport on identifying coronavirus from persons entering Tajikistan.

“Considering the coronavirus’s state in China, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population in collaboration with relevant agencies is taking all necessary measures to identify and prevent this disease at the border checkpoints and international airports of the country,” Kamolzoda told reporters.

“Currently, the Dushanbe and Khujand international airports are equipped with necessary equipment such as thermal imagers and thermal scanners, which are used for every person entering Tajikistan. Also, we daily share information with the WHO on this disease’s state in China,” he added.

According to him, while finding such patients, they will be immediately placed in special rooms available at airports and transported by special vehicles to infectious diseases departments, where they will be supervised by doctors.

Today, according to the instruction of the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population, all structures are instructed to prepare their own equipment, examine all the passengers arriving in Tajikistan, and if necessary, take additional measures.

It was reported that at present, from 2 to 5 health workers and epidemiologists are working around the clock at 27 large and small checkpoints operating on the border with neighboring countries.

“The news that has been published on the Internet over the past few days regarding the infection of the country’s citizens with the coronavirus is not true, and, fortunately, the disease has not yet been registered in Tajikistan,” Kamolzoda told reporters.

Journalists also visited the virology laboratory of the State Service for Supervision of Health and Social Protection of the Population, where they got acquainted with the process of its preparation.
