
On May 26, the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Jamoliddin Abdullozoda met with the Head of the WHO European Centre for Primary Health Care in Almaty Melitta Jakab.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister Zulfiya Abdusamatzoda, Head of the WHO Country Office in Tajikistan Victor Olsavsky, and heads of relevant departments of the Ministry.
Abdullozoda expressed satisfaction with the mutually beneficial cooperation of the Ministry with the WHO.
He also informed Jakab about the situation in the primary health care sector in Tajikistan.
It was noted that since 2010 Tajikistan has adopted a model of primary health care based on the approach of family medicine, and over the past ten years has paid special attention to the development and strengthening of this sector.
Currently, the Ministry is implementing the Family Medicine Development Plan for 2021-2025, which reflects the current issues and priorities in the development of the sector.
The parties expressed interest in expanding cooperation in various areas of health, especially in the primary health care sector.
Following the meeting, Abdullozoda and Olsavsky signed a Joint Statement of the Ministry and Development Partners on Strengthening Primary Health Care, which outlines priorities and ways to further strengthen the primary health care system in Tajikistan.
