On October 28, the official delegation of Tajikistan led by the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Nasim Olimzoda, representative of Presidential Executive Office, Chief of the State supervision service for health and social protection of the population Sulton Bekmurodzoda met with the World Bank Country Director met the World Bank Vice President for Human Development Annette Dixon and the World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia Werner Gruber.
During the meeting, Nasim Olimzoda on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan thanked the World Bank for their comprehensive support and invitation for high-level meetings to discuss the prospects for further cooperation in health and social protection.
Nasim Olimzoda, while noting the consistent support of the sector by President Emomali Rahmon, and informed that thanks to the attention of the head of state more than 500 health facilities will be built in Tajikistan by 2021.
“I would like to note more than 20 years of cooperation between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan and the World Bank. As you know, the Ministry is currently implementing a project to improve health services and a project to strengthen the social security system,” emphasized Nasim Olimzoda.
To date, the Project to improve medical care is being implemented at the proper level
Nasim Olimzoda informed that as part of this project, 37 primary health care institutions were built and family medicine centers were renovated in Tajikistan.
It was noted that thanks to the efforts and timely response, the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan has joined the 9 new states participating in the Global financing facility.
“One of the main goals of the industry in the country until 2030 is to prevent maternal, infant and adolescent mortality and protect the health of each of them,” said Nasim Olimzoda.
Following the meeting Nasim Olimzoda called on the World Bank to continue to support the country’s health and social protection by attracting investments, as well as expressed willingness to long-term cooperation.
