World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adan Gebreyesus said he was leaving for Beijing to meet with Chinese authorities and health experts and discuss the situation around the new coronavirus, reports RIA Novosti.
“I am on my way to Beijing, to meet with the Government and health experts supporting the coronavirus response. My WHO colleagues and I would like to understand the latest developments and strengthen our partnership with China in providing further protection against the outbreak,” Gebreyesus wrote in his Twitter account.
He also indicated that the organization’s specialists are working around the clock to support China and its people during this difficult time. Also, WHO is in close contact with those countries affected by the outbreak. The organization has deployed a global network of experts, quickly developed recommendations for countries around the world, and is working to put in place response systems for coronavirus.
